The launch-state figures below are the published Genworth 2024 medians; the remaining 45 jurisdictions are pending editorial verification (Genworth's state-level medians exist; we register the placeholder structure here and fill the figures editorially row-by-row).

  1. All figures are Genworth Cost of Care Survey 2024 state medians, rounded. Genworth runs the survey annually; the 2025 survey is expected to publish later in the year.
  2. Metro-level variance within a state can exceed state-level variance across states. Within California, San Francisco assisted living averages 40%+ above the Sacramento or Central Valley figure. Within Florida, Naples and Sarasota run substantially above the Panhandle.
  3. Memory care premiums (25-40% over standard assisted living) are a national pattern, not a state-level variation. The dollar amount of the premium scales with the underlying AL price.
  4. Adult day care is the most under-used cost-saver in the menu. At ~$1,000-2,000/month for 5 days/week, it's a fraction of in-home full-time aide cost and provides social engagement that home aide doesn't.
